All of a sudden Nero began throwing up a message telling me that my CD-R disc is unwritable, that it's the wrong media type, that I need to use CD-RW. I have never used a CD-RW disc and have never encountered this problem with Nero before. Nothing has changed as far as hardware or software. I have scoured Nero's settings in hopes of resolving the problem but cannot find anything that will do the trick. What gives? Anyone out there have any suggestions?
The same happened to me when I tried to burn a .CUE/.BIN of a VCD with Nero 5.5.9.9. OK for other formats (Data, Audio). I used Alcohol (you could use CDRWin) and everyehing went well. If someone has a solution, it will be good for me, too.
The solution is a freebie burning program called burnatonce.Seriously... burnatonce:http://www.burnatonce.com/downloads/
dumpster1/Aldaco: What type of cds were you burning? (with respect to DAO/TAO, data/audio/etc and multisession)
Data CD using Burning Rom v6.3.1.10. The files were regular winrar archives... never had probs with them before. Tried various settings for ISO and burn parameters... DAO, TAO, finalize - no finalize, multisession - no multisession. You name it, I tried it. I had Alcohol 120 on my machine and thot there might be conflicts so I removed it and still no go. I'm stumped. Below is a burn log if anybody's interested. ================================================ Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.59, size=160016 bytes, created 5/24/2004 7:29:46 PM Nero version: 6.3.1.10 Recorder: <YAMAHA CRW3200E> Version: 1.0d - HA 2 TA 1 - 6.3.1.10 Adapter driver: <IdeChnDr> HA 2 Drive buffer : 8192kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <YAMAHA CRW3200E >Version: 1.0d - HA 2 TA 1 - 6.3.1.10 Adapter driver: <IdeChnDr> HA 2 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : IBM-DTTA-351680 T51O hpt3xx Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off OtherPeripheral : HPT RCM DEVICE hpt3xx Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off DiskPeripheral : ST3120022A IdeChnDr Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : YAMAHA CRW3200E IdeChnDr Port 2 ID 1 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === YAMAHA CRW3200E I: CDRom0 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: CmdQueuing : 1 CmdNotification: 2 WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 EraseSpeed : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 767MB (785904kB) Free physical memory: 571MB (585092kB) Memory in use : 25 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 25.5.2004 CD-ROM (ISO) 6:26:53 PM #1 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6065 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : FALSE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : TAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet : TRUE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : FALSE Allow more than 255 characters in path : FALSE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 6:26:53 PM #2 Phase 90 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1841 Buffer Underrun Protection activated 6:26:54 PM #3 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 118 Reader running 6:26:54 PM #4 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 6:26:54 PM #5 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3200 Turn on Track-at-once, using CD-R/RW media 6:27:03 PM #6 Phase 40 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1841 Aborted by user 6:27:03 PM #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 244 Disc check failed: Medium not writable (Wrong CD) 6:27:03 PM #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 249 Write in overburning mode: FALSE 6:27:03 PM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2107 Recorder: YAMAHA CRW3200E Medium not present 6:27:03 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 410 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= Disc not writeable. I have been having the same problem... I'm using the latest nero v.6... Can't burn anything... I'll try burnatone... I use 4 diff brands but I don't think that's it... Is there a solution to this?
Burner is CRW3200E... But, I think I figured it out. Seems the problems may have been with the discs themselves. A friend owed me some blanks and he gave me a pack of Memorex... must've been a bad batch or something. I went out and bought a pack of Verbatim, which is what I normally use and they burned with no problems. Guess I'll stay away from Memorex in the future. Thanks everyone for the input.
Before you do anything Drastic, go to Nero Smartstart and make sure CD is selected on the top right tab on the menu, instead of DVD-R. I had a similar issue but it was fixed by clicking CD. Then give it a try. Worth a shot!
Im still having problems burning... I have tried nero 6 latest and also burnatonce... I've tried 4 diff brands sony, Memorex, one with out brandname...it's like silver, and phillips... It's burns and after 100% the cd pop's out but when I put it back in nothing is burned onto it... I've tried burning data, audio, and even a vcd... I've put in the audio cd to a cdplayer and won't recognize...even in other computers... It's really getting annoying... Is there a solution to this?
