Nero won't burn dvds

    Hi. having a software problem with Nero 6.3 I have a dvd recorder and when I try to use nero with the dvd options..the burn button isn't highlighted and it won't let me burn dvd's. I can only use nero express and hten only with cd's..not dvd's..any body help me here?

    are you using the copy of nero that came with your writer if not use that 1 or up date to newer version

    i updated. didn't work. i reinstalled windows. still didn't help. I don't know what is going on but it is frustrating.

    the brand is called Benq. my friend bought one at the same time and he has no trouble with it. I just reinstalled windows so let me try now and I will get back with you all.

    ive just looked on the site and this is just a -r burner is this right and you say that it will copy cd-r with no problems but not dvd's so are you using +r insted of - r's

    Mine is the 400a which is a plus burner..even says so in the literature and on the box..i have had no trouble burning dvd's using dvdshrink. but wish to use nero also. i am shrinking a dvd now and will attempt to use nero to burn it..will update you when i find out.

    You can't just buy a a recorder and begin to burn DVDs because the contain a copy guard to prevent that. Secondly most DVD are too large for a single DVD-R/+. Go to the software section and download a copy of DVD Shrink which compresses the move to size that will fit on a bunable DVD, and you might want to get a copy of DVD Decrypter as well. If you have the Ultra version of Nero then it can encode as well as burner. If you have a copy of Nero express it works just fine with DVD Shrink.     Is it an OEM version of Nero that came with the burner? If so it is crippled and not very functional when it comes to DVD. You need the full Nero 6 Ultra edition (with DVDDecrypter as was mentioned) to use all the DVD funtions.
