I recently bought a new HP laptop that came with a dual layer DVD R/CD burner. I installed my copy of nero 5.whatever (newest of version 5). But when I go to burn a DVD or cd the drop down menu to select my drive to use only lists the drive as an image recorder and will not allow me to write to a disk.
check for updates of 5 but might have to look at getting a nero 6 series to recognize the burner properly
so I have to pony up the cash to buy nero 6? I really dont want to do that unless theres a way I can be positive that will solve the problem, any more tips guys?
can download the trial/demo version of nero from the software tab up top or try your burner in a friend's computer that has newer software
kboyts I would say it is definitely your version of Nero. When I upgraded my burner to a NEC 3500 around 7 months ago I had the same problem. The latest version of Nero 5.5.56 , did not see my new drive. After I upgraded to Nero 6 , all was fine.
Nero is up to version 15A now. They are always coming out with updates, v6.6.0.1 ,v6.6.0.5, v6.6.0.8 , v6.6.0.12 , v6.6.0.13 ,v6.6.0.14 and now v6.6.0.15A . To me the only major update lately has been the support for the LIGHTSCRIBE discs. So the reason for the rest of these changes are so the software is compatible with the new drives that are always coming out, plus bug fixes.
