Try Using Imgburn to Burn to Disc Instead of NERO.
Burn at 1/2 the Rated Speed of the Blank Media.
    Set Target Area To 4300.
79% Memory Use Is Quite Alot, Close Any Un-Needed Programs.
    Do Not Multi-Task While Burning.

    @ robjr100

Your Problem May Be Due to the Age of your Burner, But Please Try The Firmware Up-Date Before You Rush Out And Buy a New Burner. If Your Phillips Has Done Everything You Ask It To Do, Up Until Now, Then It's A Good Burner and Can't Be Faulted For Getting Old.

Thread title renamed from "DVD Shrink Problems", such a title in a forum of the same name is as bad as "Please Help".
In future please see here about thread titles ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/440385

Thread teleported to relevant forum and serial number removed from logfile entry.

too late creakster.. another added to my long list

16x is way too fast for an old burner like that.. 4x is about tops those will do, firmware or not they just rattle and vibrate at that speed..I know because I have a modified antique 416 and though it will attempt to do 16x it fails right off.. the 8801 was starting to get dodgy back in 2008..

here are the firmwares.. though I doubt they will improve matters.. I had to hack mine myself to get it to work with modern 16x disks. http://www.storageupdates.philips.com/en/dvdrw.html
