Hi, I have a mpeg 2 file which is 3,624,020 kb in size. When I go to rip it to a DVD Video it goes over the limit (used space 4.48 gb, more than available). Trimming the file was a painstaking process "the segment selected was too large" as it took about 20 trims to do just a 3-4 minute selection. I decided instead to reencode it a lower bit rate. The original is encoded at around 8,000 kbps, I selected 2,537 kbps. Expecting the file size after the export process to be at least 1/2 the size of the original I was astounded to see it actually GREW. The new file size is 4,553,620 kb! Grrr, how do I make this file 1% smaller? Nothing seems to work here. So if I understand it correctly the program actually increases the mpeg file size when you select a lower quality recording? Also, isn't there an easier way to trim a file from either end without reencoding the entire mpeg? Thanks!
Instead of burning your finished NVE project to a disc, burn it to a folder on your hard drive. Once that is done, use DVD Shrink to compress.
