what do you guys think about this program? it's been working pretty well for me to create vcd's svcd's and dvd's. Is there anything better out there?
In My Opinion Vision express is one of the worst Programs Out there for creating Top Quality VCD/SVCD/DVD"s...The Last time I checked Vision express Re-encodes every file loaded into it even 100% Compliant Mpeg files and it"s encoding is Known to be Very Poor..But if I guess you don"t have a Clue about digital Video and you Just want to get some Files on a DVD with the least amout of Trouble and with no concern for Quality then I guess Vision express would be OK...When I used to Do VCD"s and SVCD"s I used Ulead DVD Workshop 1.3 because it had all of the features I needed like Motion menu"s and Chapters and Titles and it didn"t re-encode every file loaded into it, as long as the files were compliant it wouldn"t re-encode them, But now I do DVD"s and Find the Lack of AC3 support in DVD workshop a Big setback so I don"t use it much any more...For DVD Authoring I have been useing "DVD-Lab" for simple stuff and "Sonic DVD producer" or "Sonic DVDit" for more complex stuff but I also Try every other one that Comes allong ,I actually own Most DVD authoring Programs on the Market and have settled mostly with the ones I mentioned...Well anyways Good Luck
Nero is ussually OK for VCD and even SVCD but for DVD you need Sonic or something similar I agree. If you have Pinnacle Studio 8 or Ulead Movie Factory latest for video editing it will also include DVD authoring direct to HD or DVD-R disc.
Minion...what do u recommend for transcoding a regular MPEG2 into a DVD compliant (VOB) format for burning as a DVD-Video? I have Arcsoft Showbiz right now, but it takes many hours to transcode a 2gig MPEG2. I'm looking for sumthin that will speed it up a bit. Cost and fancy menu making are unimportant to me, I just want speed. I realize that system specs are applicable, so please don't say I may need a faster processor or more ram. You sed u have most authoring applications that are out there, so I'm curious which is fastest and most reliable. Thanks._X_X_X_X_X_[small]There is no problem so big, that a brick placed against the proper skull cannot fix =)[/small]
Well I wouldn"t use ShowBiz then, The 2 Fastest Encoders out there are Probably CinemaCraft encoder and MainConcept Encoder, CinemaCraft is fastest and Produces the best quality but it is Difficult to use and you need a Good Knowlege of Digital Video and Frame serveing to use it Properly...So I would go for the MainConcept Encoder, If you send me your E-mail I "ll send you a Link to it....But After you have encoded the Video to Mpeg2 you will still need a Good DVD authoring program which I can Probably hook you up with also...If you tell me what Type of Source files you have and exactly what you are trying to do and with what type of files then Maybe I can give you the Easiest route to get your Project Completed....Cheers
Perhaps you misunderstood me. I already have the MPEG2. I wish to change it into a DVD-Video (VOB) format then burn it onto a DVD+R for viewing on a stand-alone. Software that transcodes FROM MPEG2 into DVD format quickly is what I'm looking for.
Mpeg2 is DVD or Can be, If your Mpeg2 file is DVD compliant then you don"t need to convert it you need to Author it to DVD which turns your Mpeg2 file and the Menu"s and Titles and Chapters that you set up in the Authoring Program into a "Video_TS Folder" which is were the Vob files are, But Vob files are Basicly Just mpeg2 files with a Vob extention and you Don"t just Burn a Vob file to DVD you Burn a "Video_TS Folder" to DVD..So if your Mpeg2 file is DVD compliant then you just need a DVD authoring Program to Format the Mpeg2 file into a Video_TS folder...But Like I allready said if you send me your E-mail address I can send you a Link to a DVD authoring Program like "Sonic DVD producer 3.5"($4500) or "Sonic DVDit 2.54"($350) or a choice of Many others Just let em know....Cheers
You could try this tool which converts just about any format: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/contextconvert.cfm
