Hello everyone. I have recently been considering to buy a NAS. Western Digital's My Book World Edition II looks pretty good to me. You can check it out here: What I'm planning to do with it is, have it kept in a safe location like a closet, attached to a UPS and connected my router. That will protect it from physical damage along with current fluctuations (misspell?) So me and my sister will be able to reach our vids/images/audios etc. over wifi. I'm gonna be able to get rid of most of the cable messing around my computer if I also upgrade my laptop's internal hdd. Anyway these are my plans. But I have a series of questions about that product. I want to reach my files over internet even when my laptop is off. My book claims to do that. But I thinks it has a prerequisite, you have to use their software, Mionet or something. And I guess you have to pay for that software to keep reaching your files over internet. Plus I do not know if that software has mobile support (like for iphone) Here are my questions: 1- Are there other applications that lets your NAS files accessible over internet? Possibely one with mobile support? 2- Would I be able to use them for My book world edition or will I be stuck with that Mionet? 3- Will I be able watch bluray ripped movies streaming from my book to my computer over wifi fluently? Will I have to sit and wait for a movie to Thanks PS: I'm using a laptop PC with Windows XP sp3. I have a dsl connection download: 8 mbit upload: 2 mbit. And a wireless router thomson st585.
