I set up a home network (wired) as follows:

DSL Router plugs into a second router which has 4 devices connected:

My laptop (which I am writing this post on now)
    My desktop
    My XBox
    A TeraStation 1TB Raid 5 NAS

From my Laptop I can access any of the devices on the network, including either router. I can FTP into the XBox and I can transfer data to and from without incident.

The XBox (softmodded) uses XBMC 2.0 as the default dash. It used to automatically download the local weather, connect to IMDB, etc. but now it cannot get to the web. It can play movies off the PCs or the TeraStation, so I know it recognizes the network, but I cant get onto the web. This started when I clicked on "Download Quicktime Video Trailers" from the XBMC menu.

I originally created two networks in my home; a hardwired one for the Xbox and NASs to transfer data at high speeds and another for other PCs in the home (which I haven't mentioned yet) I did not want to send xbox traffic over the existing network. I hooked up the internet port of the xbox router to the DSL router to allow internet traffic in when requested from a machine on the XBox network (such as the Xbox looking for IMDB) which worked great until recently.

I dont know if the double router has anything to do with it, but I doubt it because the PCs located on the XBox netowrk can get on the web no problem.

If I dont use a double router, my entire Xbox Network would have to connect directly to the internet router which puts too much data traffic over this device causing the internet to run slow.

Can anyone recommend how to diag the problem and fix it so the Xbox can get to the internet again?

Ok, I read did some more research and fixed the problem. If your network is okay but your internet does not work, check the DNS and gateway settings on your Xbox.

I changed my IP address from assigned to manual and set the IP address but never changed the Gateway or DNS settings to match that of the router.

You can run ipconfig/all in your C:\ prompt (to get there go to run and type cmd and click ok) of a PC connected to the same router that works on the web to get the correct DNS and gateway settings for your router.

It worked right away for me!

Hope this helps if anyone else has the same problem!!!
