I'm looking for the best way to play video files from off of another PC's DVD drive over a 100MBit network.
I've heard that playing a networked video file with any standard software will result in the video processing to be done on the host PC and then played on the other PC. Is this true? Is there any way I can get the video to be processed on the PC I'm using to watch the movie on?
I've tested out a few videos over the network and sometimes playback can be choppy during special effects.
    Any recomendations would be appreciated.

Video played over a network is always processed by the
client computer not the host. If your network is set up right transfer should nto be a problem. Test your
    network transfer speed!

    Hiya,

    Some questions for ya:

Can your network sustain > 5 MegBytes/sec without loading the client CPU too much?

How are the video files stored/encoded?

What client Videoplayer do you use?

    Have Fun...

It seems that the choppy playback problem has gone away. It occured the first time I attempted to play video files over the network, but it seems to be fine now.
I have been using WinDVD5 to view the video files. I also played some DVD movies over the network and that seems to work fine too.
    Shared DVD drive kicks ass!
