I am trying to get an older computer onto my home network. I cannot figure out the steps to being able to set up a NIC based connection. Everything in 98 seems to be about dail up connections....

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Man, it's been awhile since I've done anything with 98, but let me dust off a memory cell here...

If the machine doesn't have a modem in it, only an NIC card, set that as your default.
Then...depending on your router setup...set the configuration to either Auto, or put in the IP addresses as needed in each section. You might also have to run the network wizard, but sometimes that sets the IP config back to Auto by default.

All you should have to do after that is set what folders you wish to share over the network.
