well if it says it can read ID3 tags, then it must be an mp3 player. as for showing the tags, forgive me for asking a stupid question, but your mp3s do have ID3 tag info in them, yes? And the ID tag info only shows up for mp3 CDs with ID info, not for standard audio CDs.

    edit typo

A regular audio cd is usually in wav format which is bigger than mp3 and there is loss of sound. With the size you are looking at about 17 thru 18 tracks unless you have skits which can add another 3-4 tracks. Also can be played in most car, home, pcs and portable cd players.

A mp3 cd is compressed audio files in a format which allows for upwards of a 150 or more songs on a cd. With the mp3 format the compressed audio loses some of the sound quality/ clarity such as certain notes and instrument and voice fluctuations. Can be played in your pc (home, portable, and car if it has mp3 capabilities). For example 320mb mp3 song is compressed and all that may be lost is an E-flat tone (not noticeable to most listeners). The same song in wav format will pickup all sound acoustics and have a sharper sound.

Hope that will give you somewhat of an idea of the differences until djscoop returns :).

well said matt, except audio CDs actually are not in wave format. Wave is the window's format of uncompressed audio, just as aiff is mac's version. audio CDs use Linear PCM (pulse code modulation) format.

If you have audio CDs that you would like to rip to mp3 (so you can store multiple albums on one mp3 cd) the best ripper is EAC (exact aduio copy) and the best encoder is LAME. We have a guide here showing how to use them:

good luck and happy turkey day...
