We live in the US, in Minnesota. We had Cellular One, but it is now AT&T. We are "grandfathered in" on a great plan. The problem? My husband needs a new phone. AT&T says that if he buys a new phone he will need to change plans. They say he could try to find a phone that will fit his Sim card, but good luck on that. We do not want to change plans (no plan even comes close to what we have, unless it is more than we can afford). I think the company may be wanting to scam us into a more expensive plan. Does anyone know of a way to get a new phone without changing plans? Thanks, CJ
Sounds wierd. You should just be able to upgrade your phone, unless you are getting a smartphone or an iphone where they require you to have a data plan. What do they mean by the sim card fitting. I thought they were all the same size. Can you get a pic of it. I believe you should be able to get an unlocked gsm phone and it should work.
they mean that you have to find a phone that is capable of being unlocked(hacked to use a different sim card). Majority of the cell phones are locked to the provider that sold them such as the iphone is locked to at&t, if you jail break it(hack it)you can use it on any provider such as Verizon, ect... Some phones are not able to be unlocked such the trackfone(I have tried to unlock mine). In order to find out if the phone you want is able to be unlocked, find out what the model number is and then google it see if it can.
Some of the phone manufacturers sell unlocked phones themselves. I get e-mails from time to time from motorola, offereing phones for sale....some set to a certain carrier, others unlocked.
