New Comp, Broken DVD Burner!!!

    Ok I Just got a new gateway comp, And the dvd drive doesnt work.I trie d customer support but no luck.Its a Philips DVD 8801 Drive. You no when u click my comp and theres a cd or dvd drive there? mine doesnt appear. I tried reinstallling and uninstalling but all i gets a "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)". Thats the error i get. Do i need to reinstall the driver or fimware ?where do i get this?Please dont reccomend gateway customer support because i couldnt get it to work the the people dont no wat 2 do and i dont want 2 return it!! Tahnx

    why don't you want to return it if it isn't working?

    does the drive light up at bootup. If you can get into the bios and make sure the bios is seeing it. If the bios does not see it windows wont either. look in your paper work,I am not sure on gateway but usally it is the delete key to get into the bios.

    i just returned it thanks for your help .Anyway i got a new 1 so its all good.
