I have a new computer and a scroll-wheel-with-buttons-on-the-wheel ipod (not sure what generation, its 20gb). I've used my ipod fine on my other copmuter for a little over a year now. My problem is I have installed itunes on my new computer, but it wont recognize my ipod. My ipod shows up in windows explored as 'removable device E (or f or g)'. When itunes failed me I tried anapod explorer (demo) and I have the same problem. When my ipod is connected I still get the 'Do Not Disconnect' screen on it, and I have to disconnect it by right-clicking 'Safely Remove Hardware'.

Does anyone have any suggestions? It still works fine on the old pc. I am using the wire from my sister's Ipod mini, but that should not make a difference (unless it's damaged) because she is using the wire that came with mine. I'm using USB 2, dont have firewire ports.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    4g click-wheel :)

Have you tried giving your iPod a simple restore with the updater?

No, but I'll look into that. Will restoring it reformat and/or erase everything I have on my iPod?

Yes it will. But you can easily get it back on by updating your iPod - you don't lose anything..
