New CPU Burn In - How Long?

    I have a new AMD dual core CPU arriving in a couple of days. How long should I let it burn in (100% CPU usage)?

    What? You don't need to burn in CPUs, you never have done. You only need to run stress tests to check overclocks...

    yeah there's no need to burn in a cpu, but you do want to do a stress/diagnostic check to ensure the cpu is functioning properly at operating temp and under load.

    Thanks. That's basically what I meant - running Prime95 for a few hours to ensure that the MB, CPU & RAM are functioning OK and will, hopefully, continue to do so.

    You don't really need to burn in hardware like that. What you should do is test all sorts of different software to make sure they all work. You only need to run long tests with a single program to check overclock stability.
