    Hey

New to the forum. I have a Acer Aspire 5600 laptop which i've had for around 4-5 years. Just recently dvds i've been burning have skipped then frozen around the 1hour mark (before this started happening had burnt dozens without issue). Googled the problem and decided updating the firmware was best way to go but that made it worse. Now it won't even complete a copy, just get errors. It will read discs however.

    It is a Philips DVD-RAM SDVD8821

So what i'm wanting to know is there a way to fix my burner or has it given up the ghost?

And also, if i don't want to buy an external dvd burner what internal one(s) will fit? Are they universal to all laptops or?...

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
