    Hi all,
I just found your forum, and I am new to dvd writing, but not computers.
I have had nothing but problem after problem since installing this unit.
It's an LG GSA-E60L, USB2. My system is a SATA no RAID AMD2 dual 3800.
I have read and re-read many forums, and have not been able to solve my problems.
I am at the point of getting ready to reinstall xpsp2!

The programs I use to create the movie files are:
    nanoPEG Editor for WinTV
    WinAVI Video Converter
Nero StartSmart Essentials (don't like nero)
    ConvertXtoDvd
    DVD Shrink 3.2
    and
    ImgBurn
    -----------
OK ... here are the problems
I have tried to burn using Nero(unsuccessfully),
    ConvertXtoDvd (unsuccessfully)
    ImgBurn (unsuccessfully)
When trying to burn my CPU does go nutz.
With firefox open and the burner going I peek and stick at 100% :(

In the other forums that I attend, I get asked to enable the DMA.
Now here is my question about DMA.
No one has been able to give me an answer on this one.
I have the SATA system, and USB2 external writer.
The only drives that are being asked to be converted are -
    Samsung internal CD Rom/RW/DVD (Master)
    and
internal Iomega zip 100 drive (Slave).
Can those devices on a SATA system be changed from Pio to DMA?

Now for the burning errors. In one form or another I get errors that are similar to this one:
    Write error at 2048 (16) - Code 06 29 00
[Unit attention, Power On or Bus device reset occured]

They all have in common the 06 29 00 (062900) and the Power On or Bus device reset.

I know this is a lot at 1 time, but I do have 1 final question.
My media is the Sony DVD +R AccuCore, 1 x 16.
In smaller print it say "RW". Does that mean it is erasable?
If that is a yes, what is the correct "booktype" setting,
and will I be able to play the DVD on any DVD player?
I 'think' I have been setting the booktype for DVD-Rom or DVD +R.

WOW! Got that all out. I know it's a lot of stuff, but I am read out, forum'd out, and very frustrated.

    HUGE "thank you's" in advance!

I've seen this error before. Most times, this error occurs when there are multiple hardwareitems on the same IRQ, conflicting with each other.

What to do? See if this is the case (you'll probably see a table of IRQ mappings after your BIOS' post) and try to change some IRQ's (by putting PCI cards in another slots, changing BIOS settings etc etc).

    or

(to locate this go to start – bottom left of screen - left click then left click on run and in the box that opens type msconfig).

When msconfig opens go to the Startup tab and see what you have there and what is ticked. I personally had quite a few – some of which were obvious i.e. my modem etc – but there were some I had no idea what they were. I decided to Google each entry individually and see if they were needed by my pc to run things. Here is a list of what I found and the advice I found.

    NeroCheck - unneeded - Disable
    ALCMTR - Needed - Enable
    RTHDCPL - Needed - Enable
    HDAShCut - Needed - Enable
    NvMcTray - Neutral - Disabled
    Nwiz - Unneeded - Disable
    NvCpl - Dangerous - Disable & Remove
    CliStart - Unneeded - Disable
    PSDrvCheck - Unneeded - Disable
    Dumprep 0 –k - Unneeded - Disable
    NBJ - Needed - Enable

After acting on this and disabling all the ones it said were unneeded or dangerous I rebooted my machine and the problem was gone and I could carry on recording. If you get this problem check your msconfig and see if you have any of the above running or any unneeded dll files running, if so disable them and try again. If you sort your problems this way please let me know which ones you disabled, and we maybe able to work out.exactly which caused it. Hope this helps others with the same problems

    Hello Rotary,
    Thanks for your reply.

I have decided it is overdue time to clean re-install my xpsp2.
(I dread this. It's my 1st re-install on this new SATA no RAID system)
When I do, I will have all of my external USB2 gagets plugged in and on,
so they all get detected and assigned correct IRQs.
This is not the reason for my re-install, just a small part.
sooo ... I will keep this post saved as a just in case.

    I thank you!

no problems and hassle try get back here and we may help, i run dual Raid sata drives... 6x hds.

be aware that you may need the raid drivers on install of xp hit F6 just as xp starts to install, drivers need to be on a floppy.

i know your not raiding a drive but not sure if the same drivers run a single drive to, as there not IDE so may not be seen by xp pro on trying to install
