    Hello,

I have just set up my Xbox with UnleashedX by hotswaping the drive and installing it using xboxhdm (version 1.9). That all went well but I was unsatisfied with the amount of hard drive space on the original xbox hard drive. So I tried to figure out how to put in an extra hard drive I have. It's a Western Digital (I checked it's compatability).

What I have done so far is remove the old drive (I don't care about any of the files on it so i didn't backup anything). Next I ran a program on the new hard drive called xhd Prepare. I don't know what its purpose was but it was in a guide I was using at the time. Next I attached the new drive to the xbox.

Now I got together an evox boot cd consisting of...
    defualt.xbe
    evox.ini
    skin (folder)
aaa.bin (dummy file; ~528MB; renamed rar file)

I burned this all to a CD-RW (tried different brands) and put it into the xbox with the new drive and started it up.

What happens is it comes up with the normal Xbox logo and sits there for about 5 seconds while the dvd drive searches the disk. But shortly after it comes up with a screen saying it needs service not the evox dash.

Basicly what I want to do is get the Evox (or any dash) on this new hard drive. I'm willing to take plenty of time to do it (already put in a whole day) but i'd rather not have to buy anything (more for the wait time than anything : )

Ask me if anything is not clear or if you don't understand.

Any help or sugestions would be great.

    Thanks,
    WST

put your old hard drive in and see if your xbox still works

if it does than use XBOXHDM to make a back up

there is a tutorial here to do that

and one to aid in recovering messed up data

I had done some kind of backup when I installed the Unleashed mod. Is that what I need? I'm kinda really lost with getting this new hard drive working in the xbox, it seems all the guides for it don't go into enough detail in some sections.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention one thing thats been happening. I have come across this guide a few times. I have installed and run ConfigMagic but it gives me an incorrect version error and quits.

The version of ConfigMagic i'm running is the final and is supposed to support all versions (including mine, obviously).

What exactly does configmagic do? Does it give me the eeprom.bin or does it do something else?

Is there something else I could use or do instead?

    Thanks for the link btw

i did'nt use it to be honest, i used evox and backed up then made a back up on pc then madea boot dvd and made a new hard drive from that with eeprom.bin (this needs to be on the disc before burning)
