i have a 120 gb hard drive that makes a clicking noise, could i kill it and format it then use it for my xbox, i tried to hook it up in m comp with my xboxhdm cd but it failed to boot...i know the cd is working because it worked when i loaded it with my normal hard drive in it...is the drive dead or can it be revived??

a constant two toned clicking sound from a HD is most often a stuck platter and they can sometimes be 'unstuck' but only for the purpose of retrieving data off the drive as it's going to fail again soon.

if it's stuck and you want to try and unstick it, it needs to be quickly and forcefully twisted back and forth in the direction of platter rotation. the few I've got unstuck in the past last a couple min to a couple days before failing permanently.
