NEW HD WONT LOCK!!!!!

    Ok I just bought this new 250 GB hd on ebay and I just cloned my original HD and it wont lock it gives me this error that this drive doenst support this security spec does anyone have an idea on what I can do to possibly lock it?

    do you have eeprom on the working hdd? how did you format the new hdd?

    Yup used the one from my original HD and i formatted it completely with Xbox HD Maker. I did it before but with a 200 gig for my brother in law. and i know it can support a 250

    are you sure the HDD is lockable?

    i did that already not to be rude or anything but im not ur average noob.

    It won't lock the hdd. Then maybe the hdd problem.

    ya generic hd so got pissed went to sam's club got me a western digital 250 for like $108 now im sellin this piece of shit to one of my friends for his pc. thanks for the help though.

    not all harddrives are lockable regardless of what program you use

    not sure about other chips but the X3's tell you if the drive is lockable or not once installed and there are a good number of online forums that tell which drives are and are not.
