arg i just but a new 250GB hdd (not a stalk one) and i need help to install it...my xbox is SOFTMODDED. i see many tutorials but they all say weird different things. whats the easiest way?
Use EVO X to backup your EEPROM, FTP into your xbox, copy all files from c: and e: to folders named c, and e. pull the eeprom backup off your xbox and save it. Download xboxhdm_v1.9 from #Xbins (search xbins tutorial) extract, put c: in c put e: in e put your eeprom into eeprom from there use the readme to make the iso and burn it, then you put the HD into your pc as primary without your windows hard drive, put the cd into the drive and boot it up, it will build your hard drive, then you Lock it. now stick it in your xbox and try it
I have only ever used nero to make the disc. My trial period is almost over. What other burning programs can burn image to disc like that?
well, with a softmodded system there is just no real easy way to do a hard drive replacement. It would be simple with a modchip. You can use IMGburn (it's free) to burn any ISO with "Use evox to make a backup of the eeprom and drop it into the eeprom folder of xboxhdm, then use xboxhdm to build the larger hard drive, then reboot and load linux locking/unlocking tools and lock it. Put it in the xbox and re-softmod it. Then you can load up stuff with your auto-installer (AID 3.1). Linux locking/unlocking tools is part of xboxhdm. When you first boot it, you get a menu, one of which is Linux with locking/unlocking tools. Once you make that selection, it will go through a booting process and you'll end up at a command prompt. At the promp, just type "lockhd -a" without the quotes and hit enter. It should scan the disk for the eeprom.bin file that you put in the eeprom folder before you make the xboxhdm iso. When it finds it, it will lock the hard drive with that eeprom making it to where you can use it in that xbox." By Sadalius so between that and the above it should pretty much give you an idea of what you need to do.
well hell yea, i figured the user would get xboxhdm and read the included instructions which are simple enough
