I just got the new iPod Video, and right now I plugged it into my computer - I have all the songs / videos I want in my itunes and It says ' Do not disconnect ' Alright - But it has said that for the past like five hours and I have about 70 songs in total that I'm 'Uploading' to my iPod. Is it supposed to take this long? And also, After you've "named" your iPod and it has the function '____'s iPod' why is that any different? And what's that button that looks like eject near it do?

i don't want to give wrong info here but this much i know..."do not disconnect" will be there untill u click on that button that looks like eject...first of all are u uploadin ur songs manually or automatically..if its updating automatically the icon which represents ur ipod will be blinking red while updating.as for the songs when u click on the icon which looks like ur ipod do u see ur songs in there ,if so the songs have already been uploaded just click on the eject button and disconnect it from ur pc.if it hasn't finish uploading u will see a indication at the top of ur itunes display that its still transfering the songs.hope that helped..

you can upload ur songs two ways into ur ipod.
    1. Manually-this is when u select the songs in itunes and drag them over to ur ipod icon and...
2.Automatically - this is when ur ipod is connected and the songs start updating as soon as it is recognized in itunes.

you can change these settings by right clicking on ur ipod icon and go to the ipod options and select which way u want to upload ur songs.so either way u choose u'll be right.as for the "do not disconnect sign" will be there untill u click on the eject button ..but it will reappear if you don't disconnect fast enough..but once disconnected from itunes its ok to disconnect providing its charged enough for u...

thanks i got everything so far! just one last thing. the guy i went to said that for the first night i had to keep it in the whole night (and of course when it's fully drained) i just took it out and it's fully charged - so can i put it back in or would it be better if i just waited until the power drained totally?

Maybe you can leave it in for the nite.i'm not sure wat the requirements are for charging new batteries cause i lately got mine too.but its ok to plug it back in again for the nite ,don't see the harm in that..

If you charge it when it is fully drained, then it will possibly add battery life over time, but not much. But, plugging in the iPod when it is not fully drained won't harm anything.
