    - EDIT OUT your serial number. Plus you have pasted more than one section of log (edit this and leave only the last section - i'm working from just the last section)

    - this is real old now, 6.6.0.14 is out now - upgarde to this..

    - new version A304 released Sep 2004 - http://www2.melcoinc.co.jp/pub/hd/dvsmd5816fb_fwa304.exe

    - 256MB is not really sufficient. If you can't get more memory just yet, you're gonna have to close down as many background processes/applications as you can to free up more memory. When you run out of memory you will be using virtual memory which is a portion of hard disc, thus hard drive will start 'swapping' thus interfering with dvd burns as they're obviously coming from hard drive too..

    - OMG!, these are by far the worst discs ever made. Trust me (and see the 2nd link in my signature)

Your problem is bad media, and/or lack of free memory

ive tried with 3 different types of nero, including the newest one just release, 6.6.0.14. ive tried with 304 firmware, 301 it came with, and 302. none work. I know the media is shitty but i mean, it should at least burn 1 in 25, none of them worked. i see what you say about the ram, but its not the burn process thats screwing up, its updating the pma at the end, closing the disc is where it screws up. and i have nothing going in the background when i burn. I tried also closing just the session, didnt work. thanx for your help though. any more suggesting would be welcome.

    - that sums of what i've said. Get some top quality discs. Top quality discs cost no more than crap quality discs. By far the biggest problem here is those coaster quality discs.

    - PMA errors are a symptom of other problems , not an actual cause of errors - [bold]change your media[/bold].

your firmware is very old (i know you've tried different versions) but stick with the latest UNLESS you can find info on the internet that the latest version has bugs

Trying different versions of Nero will not make your problems go away, just stick with the latest version. I suspect you don't believe me and would even swap out your burner and every single other thing you can, than just a cheap simple solution. I post on i guess 20 or so posts like yours nearly every night, feel free to look thru them if you like. My point is that no-one even needs to see your logfile(s) - say 'CMC Mag discs' to people and 99% of people will advise you to ditch them, they're that bad. (plus your logfile doesn't lie)

Hope that now convinces you what you need to do in order to get burning..

Thanx alot for your help man. I was hoping it wasnt the media because that's the only shit we can buy in this town. :( What brand have you found to be the best for DVD+R's? Thanx for the help, I'll let you know when I've tried a new brand.

i wholeheartedly recommend Verbatim [bold]datalifeplus[/bold]. I still use loads and loads of 8x -R Verb's, but i still only burn at 4x, tried 8x for a bit but it's not worth the extra few minutes..

ps for +R Verb's you're looking at a media code of MCC003 for the 8x discs, not too sure what the codes are for higher speed discs, but they're just as high quality from what i keep reading

Tayio Yuden 4x's worked beautifully all problems fixed. I cant believe those other guys get away with selling discs that repeatedly dont work. RIDICULOUS.

    Hello joelkahl,

Selling DVD Media is like selling anything else.

Some companies make cheap cars, so others sale cheap cars.
Some make very good quality cars, but you need to pay the price.

Some companies make media and cut corners so their costs is cheap, so they can make more money. Corner stores want to survive, so they sell the elto cheapo stuff...

Taiyo Yuden are not really more expensive than others.
Just fine a place that sells them, and keep going there :)

I have lots of cheap media I need to burn, then it's Taiyo Yuden all the way.

If someone could sell dog poop and make money, they would keep on selling it !
