i got a mobo second hand off a buddy of mine its an asus p5ld2-vm and i installed it with a tech guy looking over my shoulder to make sure i was doing it right. i took it home hooked up my hard drives turned it on an i had no keyboard... so i reset the bios ( battery/ jumper) then i turned it on and got a cmos error so i reset the bios again, now i have a chassis intrusion error that i cant get rid of i tried to clear the cmos again to no avail.. i dont know what the problem is now i have reset the cmos time and time again tried putting the cover back on but nothing anyone have any ideas? i cant even get into the bios atm. thanks in advance vair_17
moved to correct forum as not a windows issue. if the keyboard is ps2 then is it in the purple motherboard connector or green as supposed to be purple? why did you clear the cmos for just because you had a no keyboard present error message?
The chasis intrusion message can be dissabled by installing a jumper over the pins that would go to the chassis sensor (that your case probably does not have). Goto the asus website & download a manual to all the jumper locations. If the keyboard is USB, you might have to switch to another USB port, as sometimes these boards will only try to load the keyboard from on particular port (at least when it comes to bios, windows should always load the keyboard from any working usb port)
if i could get to the bios i would man. as for the other stuff the keyboard is ps2 so i had it in the correct port and i reset the cmos because the keyboard wasn't working and i thought that would get it to work...and it did now i just have a chassis intrusion error and no said jumpers to get rid of it.
Ah ok, I assumed the error came up without a keyboard plugged in. All the evidence I've found states that your board does have a chassis intrusion jumper you can disable. Go to the Asus website to get the manual for your board - that will indicate its position.
thanks everyone. i found the jumpers and i can now get into the bios. i just have no hard drive. its got power an the data cable is hooked up.. im confused
can you hear the hd spinning? what make is the hd as in wd, maxtor or seagate? sata or ide? reconnect the data cable at both ends. make certain the ide or sata controller(s) are enabled in the bios. try another data cable.
the hd spins put its not recognized by the bios i tried another ide cable but no luck the hard drive is a maxdor and i also have a western digital too but neither are being recognized
a little update i can get past the bios fine still dont think its detection the hd but a new problem is the screen goes black then dims dark black after what would be a system check on start up
