I hate Daemon Tools. I'm absolutely positive that D-tools is responsible for altering some setting or registry entry which now prevents my DVD burner from recognizing blank media. I installed D-Tools, and immediately thereafter, the problem began. I then uninstalled D-tools, SPTD (or whatever it's called), and removed all the registry entries I could find concerning those two programs. Thinking I had destroyed the "daemon" seed (bad pun, I know), I tried to "back up" a copy of Super Troopers. Yet again, my DVD burner wouldn't recognize the blank media - not even with Nero 8. So I bought some new discs - Verbatim, to be exact. But neither top-notch CD-Rs or DVD+Rs could do the trick. Now I sit here, unable to burn anything simply because D-tools did something to inhibit my burner and nothing - not even Nero 8 - seems to fix it. Now I'm posting this log file with the hope that someone smarter than I can think of a fix. Thanks to whomever dissects this and finds out how I can burn again. Finally, just to clear doubts: 1) Yes, I've updated all my drivers. 2) No, I can't do a system restore - I installed D-tools a long time ago and have put up with the problem for a while. System Restore can only go back about 3 months. 3) Yes, my drive is plugged in and otherwise fully functional - it can PLAY DVDs and CDs; it just can't recognize blank ones. 4) Yes, I'm using high-quality DVDs. 5) I'm running Windows XP, SP2 on an HP zd8000 laptop (a "desktop replacement" back in its hayday). Thanks again.
There are high quality discs and "high quality" discs. RICOHJPN is decent.Even when using a certain type if high quality discs, a certain burner might not be compatible with certain media, even if it is quality. Have you tried any different discs from the ones you have now?
