nice find AGAIN teflon~ 1st it was OEM media, now this~ GREAT JOB~! i wish someone would actually release a hacked firmware so i could bitset booktype dvd+R to dvd-rom on this unit though~ have you seen one that can do it yet? i have just upgraded my pioneer to this newest firmware, but have been dying to find one that will bitset. but, thank you for this~ have a good one
so this "buffalo" firmware does it allow bitsetting? i already have mine setup to unlock the ripspeed, that was not my point...i need to find a firmware that will ALLOW BITSETTING (meaning booktype my dvd+r to dvd-rom)...since that was just a quote, i don't know what else was discussed in the thread...but, thanks anyways~
Yeah, the Buffalo firmware allows bitsetting. Here's a thread: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=137934
thanks for the link...too bad i can't read japanese i read somewhere that the buffalo 8.55 is out? this is the 8.50, could you PM me the link to the 8.55 as i can't find it i think i read it from user "P00R" stating "we are up to 8.55" and maybe it was time to flash the drive, but i couldn't find what he was talking about...he doesn't say where to get it...let me know if you can get the newest version as that japanese page is all gibberish to me~ thanks again for the heads up teflonmyk~ appreciate it~
I think that was a typo. 8.50 was the last Buffalo version... http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=25
I have been burning only -R media so far... I just ordered the +R OEM Verbs from NewEgg. I am gonna run a +R backup through all of my equipment, old and new, to see if it likes +R. Not worried about the DVD players connected to TV's as they are new, but, moreso, my portable DVD player. If it accepts it, then I am not going to bother with the Buffalo firmware because I won't have a need for it... I have, however, already flashed my drive to A09, and I love the increased rip speed!!!
as have i teflon, as have i~ 12x rip speed is pretty darn good, while i don't ALWAYS get that speed, it's always fairly close at LEAST 10x~ the wonders of firmware, thanks for helping me w/ the buffalo tip, i like your style~
Looks like you might still have to choose either bitsetting or read speed despite earlier post claiming to be capable of both... Here's the thread if you want to check it periodically: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=142413
