I'm buying a new computer in January and need some help picking out my video card. I want the best card I can get for the money I want to spend. Around $100 - $135 or so. I play an occasional game, use spreadsheets, word, burn DVD/CD and stuff, lots of internet junk, that sort of thing... not too intesive. Here is what I'm planning on so far: AMD 64 3200+ 512MB Dual Channel DDR3200 ram 160GB SATA HD BenQ DW 1620A dual layer DVD Burner DVD reader (help here too!!!!) -don't care about sound, i think integrated will be fine Any sugestions will be appreciated.... Oh yeah.. I don't watch TV on my computer and will only be using 1 monitor, I don't do any video editing either. (i hope that helps)
For $135 the best deal going is the Radeon 9600XT such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-164-008&depa=1
Nephilim - Hey thanks, I found two web sites that have reviews on them and the site you gave me gives prices for EVERYTHING... I love it.. It's very helpful. After all this, and reading reviews for the last two hours, I think I have decided to upgrade the Video card to a: GeForce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 128bit I will be paying a great deal more than I hoped to but I am thinking that I will be glad I did. Here is the a link to the card, and I would like to here what you think as well.... http://www.a1-electronics.net/Graphics_Cards/GeForce/2004/GeForce_6600-GT_Nov.shtml There are some good graphs regarding other cards as well.
some of the reviews I read showed the 6600GT blowing away the FX 5700's and the 6600 was a real chopped down version of the 6600GT
