I recently upgraded windows xp homes to windows proffessional english to change the language a bit, and when it is installed, i am unable to reach the internet on the laptop. the only network adapter available on the device manager is the 1394 connection one and even when i plug in the cat5 cable, it doesn't connect
Is your laptop connected to a network in the home. If so, is the host computer Windows Xp Home Edition?. Cause Xp Home computer could never be hosts.(dont ask me I dont know why Microsoft did that). for the host computer to work with networking you need Xp Pro installed on it. If u dont have a network then just check the drivers. your probably missing one.
ahha i found out it was missing the lan driver.. however the problem now is to install the driver since in the instruction of the driver it said i need to update driver, the prob is theres nothing to update from... hmm
You could find out where it trie to install/update the drive to, and then just place it there yourself. Then, uninstall and re-install your lan card and see if windows picks it up with the new driver...
