i been using a softmodded crystal v1.6 xbox for over a year now with no problems. Then one day i dunno if my sister might have messed with the settings but when i turn it on, I only hear the sound and the green light comes on like normal but nothing shows up on my screen. So i swap out my rgb cable for an s-video cable and the same thing happens. So i gave up on it. Now i bought a 2nd hand xbox crystal i assume its v1.6 too and i wanna move my harddrive from the old xbox to the new one. Is this possible? Im willing to go thru all the softmodding and upgrading this to a fresh harddrive if i cant, But i got lots of divx films on the old hardrive (120gb) and lots of family photos that i scanned.. I put the splinter cell savegames onto my 2nd xbox(stock hd) and got into the blue unleash screen but after 5 seconds the dvd will spin and bootup splinter cell again and if i eject to prevent this, the xbox will reset. Any ideas guys? so basically i need suggestions on these main points if possible.. 1) why i cant get video , but i get sound and the green light. 2) use old harddrive (120g with softmod) 3) why cant the first blue screen from the splintercell hack wont last for longer than 5 seconds without selfbooting and the eject button will reset my xbox. First, YOu should play with video settings on the old xbox. Try to load to ms dash. Hit eject button to turn on xbox. Do you connect xbox to regular TV or HDTV. do you use monster cable? I dont think it broke yet. Second, you cant swap the hdd on any xbox. Because your xbox won't be able to unlock any other xbox's hdd. third, I'm not sure what happen to the new xbox. Tell me more. What do you see when turn it on? does it still play original games?
thankyou returner for your hasty reply. on my 1st xbox i connect using the advanced scart cable (RGB SCART) and i also tried using the bog standard composite cable i got with the box , then i tried using a s-video connection. Just get audio of the m$ bootup screen, no video. same with all 3 cables. I tried burning that video selector prog onto dvd and but i cant tell if it boots or not as i cant see. Im guessing it wont boot cos i cant hear anything after the annoying m$ boot sound. Can i boot up the 1st xbox past this point hoping that that would unlock the drive? this is my theory: i got a backup of the eprom from the 1st xbox. IF i can unlock the drive, can i edit the eprom to match the new 2nd xbox? However i dunno how to get the eprom from the new hd without a installing softmod on the 2nd xbox. on the last point from your reply.. you know when after u copied the splintercell hack from mc to your HD, then u run splinter cell and load saved game, You see the first blue screen with unleashx. This is the screen im talking about..the DVD drive starts to spin and then the game is detected (spinter cell) and then it runs the game automatically. Can i disabled that? or can i prolong it etc? my theory is.....if i can get the eprom from this blue screen WITHOUT having to completely installing the softmod then i can get the eprom and inject it into the 1st xbox's 120gig harddrive which i wanna place into the new 2nd xbox. This way i can leave the stock harddrive from 2nd xbox unmodded? thankyou , i know my situation is kinda long winded ..really apperciate your help.
yep, It is possible to put the 120GB hdd on the new xbox if you have both eeprom.bin of the old xbox and the new xbox. So you have the eeprom.bin from the old xbox. Now you need the eeprom.bin from the new xbox. YOu can't get the eeprom from non-mod xbox. Therefore, you have to softmod the new xbox. If your tutor does not work, then you can try this. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/311710 When you have both eeprom.bin, then use xboxhdm to unlock and lock 120GB hdd. First, use the eeprom.bin from old xbox to unlock the 120GB hdd. Then use the eeprom.bin from the new xbox to lock 120GB hdd. Then put the hdd to new xbox. If new xbox boots fine, then the old xbox has problems with motherboard. If new xbox has same problems like old xbox had, then 120GB hdd has problems and your old xbox should be fine.
thanx..i read them pages u linked for me. But im a bit confused now. I went ahead and softmodded my 2nd XBOXusing the splinter cell SID pack cos it fitted on a 8meg memory card. I think the reason why it kept running the game after a few seconds was because it had auto start game set to on. I found this tutorial: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html I'm thinking..it might be easier to change the eprom of my NEW 2nd xbox to the same eprom as my old 1st XBOX instead. Then just plug in the OLD 120gig Harddrive. Do you think that would work? In the tutorial it doesnt mention if its for soft mod of chip mod. It mentions locking the drive but i think with mine being a softmod, it might not work? Has anyone with a softmod been in my situation or tried this? Any suggestions?
yeah, that tutor shows you have to backup original eeprom and to swap eeprom. Hmm... I see what you are thinking now. So your try to swap the eeprom from old xbox to the new xbox hdd. After successed, then put the 120GB in the new xbox. That may work. It is goood to try. It does not matter with softmod. As long the new xbox can unlock the 120GBhdd, dashboard will load.
