    Hi-
I am a happy ex-aol user who is about to loose the wonderful (free) Mcafee anti virus suite.

    I currently have:
    System - Compaq Presario
    O/S - Windows XP
    Internet - Verizon DSL
    Protection: Mcafee suite + SpyBot

Im looking for a simple and free replacement. Here is what I came up with so far:
    Antivirus - AVG
    Firewall - Zone Alarm
    Spyware - Spybot
    MalWare/Adware - ???

Please advise if I am missing something.
    Thanks-this is a great forum!!

    Hey kenmtb

    Here's what I recommend:

    Antivirus- Antivir Free
    Firewall- Comodo
Antispyware- Superantispyware and Malwarebytes (both free)
Browser Immunization- Spyware Blaster, Advanced Windowscare, Spybot

Both Antivir and Comodo are the best of their kind. Both are low-resource consuming, excellent detection for Antivir (look here: www.av-comparatives.org), and Comodo is a great firewall.

    Best Regards :D

    Thank you for the advise.
When I had Mcaffe, it was pretty much automatic protection.
Do I have to do any manual updates with the products that you recommend?
I run sprbot every once in a while now.

Both Antivir and Comodo are pretty much automatic protection. You have to do manual updates for the rest though.

    Best Regards :D
