Hello all. I'm looking to dive into my first system build. I used to be pretty savy but I honestly haven't followed the market in a good two years so I have no idea where to start. My budget is anywhere between $1000 - $2000. I would like to be able to play the latest games with resonable performace, although I don't necissarily want a "gaming rig" specifically. Preferably, I want a system that will be stylish astheticly pleasing, nothing to crazy though, just a nice sleek polished looking case that will fit in my small apartment. I would like to hook my PC to my 42" 1080p LCD TV and use it as a Blue-Ray/Media device. I don't have the specs on the TV' resolution and what not but let me know if it's required and I can provide that information. Let me know if you need any other info. And thank you all very much in advance for sharing your insight and expertise.
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=10578374 Heres a $1500 build with one of the top video cards on the market. However, for this budget, you could easily upgrade to a Core i7 860 for more CPU power, but if your not doing video encoding, or cpu intensive tasks like this which are likley to utilize the HT, then its a bit of a waste of money. However, heres something to consider. Depending on your current build, you may be bale to utilize it as a media center PC with just a video card upgrade. Then purchase a system like i linked to which would do high end gaming, and offers plenty of cpu power. Heck you could probably throw a 1 TB HDD or maybe 2 in your old case and have plenty of storage and keep all your movies on there. Assuming you network the PCs you could easily transfer movies back and forth between the two if needed.
TThanks! Very good info. I actually don't currently have a desktop so the alternate suggestion is not an option. From a gaming and media (viewing hd video and movies 25% chance of some minor video editing) perspective, what kind of difference are we talking between. I50 and i70. Also, most likely will be useing hdtv as dedicated monitor to start. Thanks again!
First, I want to make sure all the parts work together, especially MB and Memory. Also, I was wondering if I should go with the same case you orginally recommended (COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Computer Case With Side Panel Window). Or choose a different one. I would prefer a Mid-Tower but I'm assuming that's not possible considering size and length of Graphics card, MB, Heatsinks, etc.. and cooling requirements. Overall, what do you think? And don't be kind.
