hi, and welcome to the forum... - too old, update to latest, 6.6.0.16 - wow, that firmware is out of the bible, 1.0C is here (you're 7 versions behind!) - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1517 - DMA needs to be ON, fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm - 256MB is barely sufficient for XP, never mind DVD work on top. 512MB is what i consider the minimum for DVD work - you're burnignto outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size in Shrink's preferences to 4300MB, avoiding outer edge of discs and not sacrificing much space - your firmware is out of date, thus not recognising your media. update the firmware. this is an example of what you see when firmware's up to date, this kind of 3liner - - see previous comments - that's Roxio, which doesn't play well with Nero, uninstall it. To eradicate it completely You may have to google search for Roxio Zapper
Oh my god creaky you are like the best. hehe. Thank u very much for your help. After following your suggestions, it works now. Now i just need better memory like u suggested 512 mb. I'm so stupid when it comes to computers so i need to ask someone how to do that. But once again, thank you very much.
no worries, glad it helped. as to adding memory, it's simply a case of finding out what sort of memory you already have and how that 256MB is made up, ie if it's 2x 128MB or a single 256MB stick, have you got enough spare memory slots to add the other 256MB or do you need to take out what you have (amd sell it) and replace with a 512MB stick or 2x 256MB sticks etc etc.... we can look at that sometime if you like
Hi Creaky, guess what my Nero stopped working again. I'm wondering if it's Nero or the computer since now my dvd shrink is running really slow too. And sometimes dvd decrypter just closes by itself when i'm decrypting. Ok back to Nero, it will burn to 100 percent but then it would say burn failed and etc. Do u think it has to do with the memory but it was never a problem before? Could u pls offer any advice? Thanks a lot. hi. - even though your firmware is up to date, your burner's still not recognising the media. I suspect you're trying to use 8x or higher media, that the firmware just can't cope with as the media is too new for the firmware to understand. (i do know this burner can do 4x max so i'm guessing it's firmware was never really gonna cater for much newer discs). i think that's your main problem (obviously your burner may be playing up, but the point of this troubleshooting is to do what we can with what we have). The low memory is definitely a factor, but i think here the firmware's the biggest problem. There's nothing we can do to get that particular media to work on this burner, however it would be nice to find out what media you're trying to use. download dvd identifier (free) - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm, use it to 'identify' one of those problem discs and paste the results here.. The ultimate solution is to use 4x discs, that way the firmware can correctly use them, add more memord, and if all else fails, get another burner. but let's see what the dvd identifier shows...

Hi Creaky, i just wanted to say thx for all your help. Everything is working now but i had to get my computer fixed because it went bananas on me and the hard drive was all screwed up. But now everything is working and i got someone to add more memory to my computer. I just wanted to say i really appreciate your help. Thanks a lot.
