I downloaded a music album in APE format and I am wondering how to play it as my Windows Media Player does not seem to recognize the file format at all. I also have Winamp but also can't play this file..Any advice please..
Install one or these APE Direct Show filters: http://www.monkeysaudio.com/download.html Or (recommended) http://www.radlight.org/products/filters/filter.php?filter=8
I actually have download the Monkey audio from the link you gave but when I tried to add file (APE file I have) the program just quit every time. So I don't know what is going on..
What do you mean you tried to add file, tried to play it with WMP? I just read your post again. You say that winAmp won't play the file(s)? WinAmp supports APE though DS and Plug-in. If the file won't play with WinAmp (I use 5.1)I would make sure it is a legit APE file! I currently use both (and others) players to play Monkeys Audio files. Ced
I mean I download the Monkey audio and thought that I had to decompress the APE file so I click on decompress mode in Monkey audio (not in Winamp) and click on "Add file" as soon as I click on my APE file tha I want to decompress, the Monkey audio program which I downloaded from the same link you gave me just quit.
No, just play the APE file with one of the Media players. Once the DS filter is installed the media player will decompress the file in realtime (or faster) when you play it like any other audio format.
