should i get a system with 1 radeon hd 5870, dual hd 5850s, or dual hd 3870s. How big is the performance jump from 3870 to 5850. Also I know about the hd 5870x2 but can not afford that right now.
There are a few things you should keep in mind, running a single powerful gpu is not always better, but much more stable than running two less powerful gpus. I have 1 HD4870 and there's really nothing it can't do. Dual 4850s are better than 1 hd4870, and obviously better than 2 3870s, but once again this goes back to the stability and practicality of running 2 gpus. Though the best ATI card by far is the HD4870X2, but if your not a TOTAL enthusiast you will be extremely satisfied with 1 hd4850. The jump between a 3870 and a 4850 is not HUGE, but you'll notice a nice difference. If you enjoy gaming, but it's not your life, and you have some extra cash go with 1 HD4870, but again the HD4850 will also do great.
what is minimum processor I should go with. I am more than a casual gamer but not a "total enthusiast". I also have no experience overclocking and do not know where to begin. If there is a guide I can overclock if it means good savings
I cant believe no one responded to you. If you're on a budget, a E5200 will work fine. I would recommend a Q6600 though. I think you already got a Q6600? you were asking about overclocking it, right?
yes thats right I did go with a q6600 and when I get everything in and finish putting the system together I am going to make my first overclocking attempt. Thanks for the help I have received here. Also thanks for the overclocking link you sent me it seems pretty straight forward and easy to follow.
