Well as the title says i'm trying to use my backup of NFS: Carbon on my xbox(modded with Xenium S.P. Gold)..but i get to the Xbox logo and it freezes..i really don't feel like buying another copy(friend step and cracked orig.)...if anyone knows how to get to play, would like to know...lol...thanks
Could just be that the disc was not made correctly or that the Xbox doesn't like the brand of media that was used. I have a copy of NFS Carbon and it works just fine. Mine was made on a Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R "friend step and cracked orig" i have no idea what that is suppose to mean?
Have you played other games on the media that NFS doesnt work on? Make an iso with craxtion and burn with dvd decrypter.
that's his polite way of saying "No i didn't pirate the game, i have/had the original and my buddy broke it, that's why i got the Xenium chip installed in my console so that when i buy games i can back them up and not have to worry about my bone headed friends breaking the originals again" as mentioned it sounds like a bad burn or bad media. also use ImgBurn for burning, not DVD Decrypter, Decrypter is a bit out of date on the burning side of life. kc
i have a similar problem with NFS Carbon, my modded box xecuter 2.6 will not play this game, freezes at loading screen, tried different media, different settings, and different ways of loading this game on the disc and from the hdd, i also have a softmodded box that plays this game no problems using the same disc.... I finally gave up with the modded box playing this game until someone can figure it out!
you shouldn't have a problem with the chip if it's got the current BIOS flashed to it. I've modded several hundred boxes with Xecuter chips and nobody has had any problems with any games, I've asked a few of my older customers with the 2.6s and they all reported it played fine off disc but nobody had tried it off the harddrive that i spoke to. i have read that you get the 'dirty disc' error when playing off a harddrive but i haven't took the time to load the game and play it myself (i don't much care for racing games) but i did test it last night off the DVD with my X3ce and it played fine. kc EDIT: I've got it loading to the HDD now and I'll post later if it plays or gives the dirty disc problem I've read about with it.
i have a DuoX2 chip, and mine plays fine from either the disc or the HDD. With the chip you have which is better than what i have i do not see why you would have a problem. I finished about 80% of the game from the hard drive so it is well tested.
just finished up about 20 min off the harddrive with no problems and i don't see there being any as there are no files renamed during installation. again i'm guessing it's your BIOS if you are having problems with the Xecuter 2.6 kc
I'm thinking it was just a bad burn...only game i've ever had trouble backing up...it's cool though...got a new copy(made him buy a new one...lol)...thanks for the help...i'll just stick with the original for now...probably try again shortly...ooh, was using sony dvd-r to backup...yeah i was using dvd decrypter(still prefer it...first one i used, even though i know imgburn is the basic same)...
No it's not basically the same, it's exactly the same burn engine, designed by the same guy with the exception that the ImgBurn is UP TO DATE but to each their own. kc
I see a big problem with the Sony dvd-R that you are using. 1 of the worst manufactured disks on the market. Do yourself a favor and buy VERBATIM's. Office max puts them on sale all the time or go to sams club for the everyday price of 32.99 for a 100 pack. I have over 1100 movies/400 xbox games backed up on verbatim's and the all work 100% perfect! Midnight club 3 still is the best driving game!

I've tried many burns and one of them i used my xbox drive over the netowrk with quix and the other i used stchrom 3.1 with my samsun and kreon .81 then quix ed it and one runs fine untill you play multiplayer and the other one works with multiplayer but it has a hard time reading the disk i can play faster than it loads i get to the end of the track and it goes blurry i can hear the drive searching and then i resume playing. tied kodak (crap) and rigdata burnned at 4x and 8x it almost seems like the files are in the wrong order it makes the drive seek too much. i ripped it to the hdd with dvd2xbox and i get the 2 player problem so now i'm trying to rip my copyed game to the hdd to see if it makes a difference. the original works great.
all of the discs you are using are low quality. This is why the game is giving you the problems with loading slower than you play. It is because the laser in the DVD drive has a hard time reading the low quality media. If you rip it correctly to your hard drive it should work fine but if you burn it correctly to quality media it will also work fine. Personally i like Craxtion4 over Qwix You just have to make sure you go to Microsoft.com and download the ".Net Framework 2.0" and install it or craxtion will not work. also you can take the ISO, extract it to your desktop into a folder, then FTP that folder tou your Xbox hard drive. This is how i usually do it, even though it is an extra step to extract then FTP rather than just extracting to the Xbox itself. I do this because i have had several games extract to the hard drive and it is just a bunch of files and not in a folder like i prefer them. After a couple like that you have all these single files and have no idea what game they go to. They all work but it is just sloppy.
