My niece somehow managed to drop her nintendo ds lite into the toilet and when it was rescued it still switched on momenterily but now you can see the water inside the top screen. Is there any hope of a revival for the poor ds? what action can be taken to fix this?

You can open it up and dry it out with tissue and maybe use some screen cleaner wipes. You need a tri-wing screwdriver (google modchip suppliers to find one) and I'd advise taking photos at each stage so you can use them to re assemble - You might also find guides on disassembly and even videos on youtube. I've stripped a regular NDS down before to replace a broken case. It's just a matter of patience really.

The darkside did not claim another victim. The DS switches on and works but the screens are dark, not disassembled it yet, gonna do that tonight.

Do not turn it on until you have dried it all out. It could cause a short.
