When, i put any pressure on the screen(TOUCH SCREEN) the entire system shuts down. Ive re-opened it and checked all the cables, and they all seem fine. any suggestions?

On all DS's there is insulation on the back of the bottom LCD screen to stop it shorting out on the circuit board underneath. Try taking off the screen and reinsulating the underneath with electrical insulation tape. If this doesn't work disconnect the touch screen but leave it in place, re assemble and try using the touchscreen now (it will not work but does the unit switch off) if it does, it is not the touchscreen but something shorting out when pressure is applied to the screen (hence the first bit) If it now works fine try changing the touchscreen.

I tried what you said. When i disconnect it, and leave it in place, then tap on the TOUCH screen, it does not shut down. When I put connected it and put Electrical tape on the wire, it worked a liitle, i can tap on it a little harder, and it won't shut down. But it still shuts down. and when i touch the top left corner, hard, or soft, it shuts down. Any more advice???

Replace the toch screen, you can get them off ebay or if you dont mind waiting from dealextreme.com

Try replacing the touchscreen and see if that sorts the issue

Could be either, however a common DS problem is that a poor screen connection stops the DS switching on / can turn it off. Remove the small cable from the touchscreen (the one in the top picture and insulate the wire (all of it if possible), reassemble the DS and try the unit pushing the touchscreen all over (it won't respond as the wire is now out) if it now turns off it must be the lower screen (LCD - one in the bottom picture)If it now does not turn off then replace just the touchscreen.

The top one, though it is a little tricky to replace the touch screen only.

Ok, I tried it, and when I tap on the touch screen it still shuts off, even with Touch Screen disconnected. So it has to be the bottom LCD Screen??? Would it be better to buy both the LCD Screen and the Touch Screen, Or just the LCD screen??

You can buy both, the touchscreen is very cheap (less than $4 from dealextreme)However replacement touch screens are never quite as good as the original (you have to press that little bit harder) so if the touchscreen is in good condition leave it as it is, just replace the bottom screen. When fitting back together if the unit fails to switch on (green light comes on for about 1 sec both screens flash and then it switches off) refit both screen connectors, both must be fitted correctly for the unit to start up,

    Good luck

Ooops forgot to mention the most important part - when you get the new screen the back is NOT insulated. This must be insulated before you fit it or . . . goodbye DS.
