The Supercard DS Lite & Passcard 3 Review. Introduction Hi im wraggster the webmaster of DCEmu and Nintendo DS Emulation the worlds only true Homebrew and Gaming Network. This is a review of the Supercard DS Lite which is a Cartridge that allows you to run Homebrew and Commercial Back ups on your Nintendo DS although you will need a BootCart (A bootcart fits in the normal DS Cart slot and the Supercard DS Lite fits in the GBA Card Slot) What happens is that you have the Passcard 3 in the DS Slot, the Supercard DS Lite in the GBA Slot but you will also require a MIcroSD Memory card and an adapter so you can transfer files to your Memory Card. Buying the Supercard DS Lite & Passcard 3 I live in England so buying from Hong Kong means more on the posting and packaging but i decided to take the risk, i had already bought several items from Linkers 4u.com and was quite happy to go ahead with buying one off them, the price for the Supercard DS Lite was $43 which is around £23 in my money so a very good price, infact the best i could find. I had already brought the Passcard 3 from Mr Modchips for £18.99 and £2 Delivery. The cost of delivery was in my opinion was a little high but it did come quickly even with the worldwide rush for the Supercard DS Lite, $19 dollars (£9) for UPS to deliver it so not too bad so far and the 3/4 day delivery time made me very happy. Luckily Linkers 4u.com marked it has a sample so i didnt get charged and to be fair i brought it for review so it was fair, remember always ask to buy as a sample . The Supercard DS Lite came in a Brown padded envelope and had to be signed for so less chance of the card going walkies. If your after a Micro SD Memory card and reader for your PC i suggest Amazon.com or Amazon UK they will be cheaper that most. The Supercard DS Lite (pictures and small descriptions) Heres the picture of the Supercard DS Lite Box. As you can see the box is nice and bright and small too. The Supercard DS Lite Nice and small and see the little micro sd slot on top . Passcard 3 The bootcart you need for DS Files. The backshot http://www.dcemu.co.uk/dslitereview/DSCF0104.JPG[/img See how snug they fit and take no notice of my yellow soccer top. The Open View [img]http://www.dcemu.co.uk/dslitereview/DSCF0105.JPG Please i need an haircut plus i didnt tidy it up and anyway look at the bloody DS lite and not me . Another Backshot fits nice eh. The Review Itself Those of you who have followed the DS Scene from the beginning will know that the old Superpasskey with the addition of the extra game needed to boot the flash cart looked horrid and sometimes wouldnt even recognise the unit. Well with the Passcard 3 it boots perfectly, first off you see the the Nintendo Health boot up screen and then the Passcard 3 Splash screen and then onto whatever flash cart you have, the Passcard 3 works on both Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite so for that you can buy with confidence. I tried it with both versions of the Supercard that i have and reported no problems so thats really as far as the Passcard 3 review bit goes, its fast and uncomplicated and looks much better because its the size of a normal DS Game. The Supercard DS Lite is really small when you take it out of the Box but because Nintendo shrunk the GBA Slot in the DS Lite it needs to be. Fitting it in is a Breeze and you will marvel at the perfect fit in the GBA Slot, no more nasty carts sticking out from the console. The great thing about the cart is that the Slot for the Micro SD Card is in the top so when your sticking new files on its really easy, just take out the Micro SD Card stick it in a reader and your ready to put the files on and then insert back into the Supercard DS Lite. The Old Supercard suffered with slowdown on some Nintendo DS and GBA Games but i can happily say that on the games i tried the slowdown wasnt there or if it was it wasnt noticeable, always make sure you have the latest software from the Official Supercard Site, the reason why is that with new rom releases there are always fixes and software fixes to the hardware itself and please make sure you have a fully charged DS Lite and follow the instructions to the letter to avoid any problems. The menu system on the Supercard DS Lite is the same as the other versions of Supercard meaning that it does the Job, theres no fancy graphics just the file names for you to click on. Remember if you want to run in GBA mode you leave the Passcard 3 out and when you want DS mode you have both the Passcard 3 and Supercard DS Lite in. The card itself comes with no instructions but really its just a case of putting Normal .GBA titles on as normal and NDS titles you really must use the converter and copy the files it makes across to the card. Conclusion If i had to recommend a Decent Flash cart for your DS lite then this is one of the best especially if you have used Supercard Before, like everything in life it takes a bit of getting used to and make sure you buy a decent sized Micro SD Card but once you do you will be set. The added bonus of having a cart that fits snugly into your console shouldnt be ignored.
