For a couple avi's that were too large to burn in vision i tried using windows movie maker to compress the avi then import the new smaller wmv in vision and while the file has shrunken considerably(judging from the backs of other 7-800mb avis' ive burned)as well as having reasonable looking video there is no audio at all. Ive tried saving the avis in wmm to a range of options they have(like "Video for local playback NTSC") except for one that is DV-AVI but i dont know if the 19,000mb it requires to save is just for converting the avi or if the 700mb avi will become a 19,000mb DV-AVI which defeats my purpose by leaps and bounds. Anywho if you dont know what im talking about then would someone who knows how to use wmm for compressing files(and then if you happened to import into nero, the better) tell me exactly what options i need to choose to accomplish this task or even if theres a better program entirely for my compression needs. Why some of these 7-900mb wont fit on a dvd 5 is beyond me. Thanks for taking the time.
Do you mean that the combined running time of the source is substantially more than the nominal two hours that a DVD5 can accommodate? If so, you can set Nero to output to a DVD9 - but make the target a folder on the hard drive. Then you can open the files in DVD Shrink and shrink them to fit.
AW MAN great idea! cant believe I didn't think of that. Save the nero end-product into a folder then just burn it with something else. and to answer your question i only burn one avi at a time and one was even a 80min disney cartoon that nero said was too big...
Eighty minute running time shouldn't be an issue. I would try converting the AVI with the likes of DVD Flick to see how it reacts.
