Hi I converted an avi xvid file to SVCD with TMPGEnc and the video came out ok, but it doesnt have any audio why is this? thanks
Maybe the Audio cannot be loaded by TMPGenc (youn see it because the "Audio.." box is blank, while the "Video.." contains the AVI name)(This, sometimes and rarely, happens..). There are lor of methods to manage to make TMPGenc 'understand' the audio in the guides. I sometimes use WinMPG and load the audio from the 'AVI to MPG1' output (the Video is corrupt after 10 conversions if you are unregistred, but the Audio is OK) or use Virtualdub and extract the sound as WAV (File--->Save WAV, if it loads it).
no the audio file is loaded too both boxes are filled, video and audio. Do i have to get another program to work with TMP or somethin?
OK I started trying that method but when I go tto the part where you have to save the 'wav' file in virtual dub, I had no option of doing that, since my audio was .avi, so I choose save as avi, and the program crashed. Not sure what to do...
ok forget that I just found the save wav option(duh) and it is working fine now, i just hope the rest of this guide is as easy and it actually works, everything video-related I've tried to do recently, save for downloading the actual files, has been a struggle.
I knew it was too good to be true, I got an error while using TMPGEnc, it says, "Index of scan line is out of range(288)" when I chose SVCD in the 'Load' menu. Not too sure what the difference between VCD and SVCD is, but I would assume SVCD is just better quality, which is what I wanted. I guess I'll have to sacrifice for lower quality now since it wont work with SVCD. I chose VCD and it is now converting fine.
im not sure if the audio should work when u go to file>preview in TMPGEnc, but it didnt...video played ok though
ok I finished converting it, the audio came out fine, but at certain random points, the screen will go black, or certain pixels will blur. I've tried it in Nero Showtime, Windows Media player, and Divx player and the same thing happensin all 3.....wahts wrong?
I've been encoding avi. and mpeg files for about 5 months and have found that all media applications suck your cpu dry, I now run 1280ram and over 300gb hardisk but separate drives, if you are trying to multitask it can interfere with the tmpgenc program so don't, let it encode when you're asleep, just batch 'em up . Some files are corrupt before you start and it's just not worth trying to repair, but a worthy repair program is vcdgear www.vcdgear.com . When converting don't forget to output as a program(video+audio) stream and not elementary
ok, yeah the files are perfectas avi's, i dont think they need ot be repaired, what do youu mean by batch em up? Wouldnt converting them while you're asleep be the best time since you're using nothing and the program has the whole cpu to itself? My pc is 950 mhz athlon 384mb ram 40gb hard drive. I just ordered 3.2ghz prescott with 512 ram and 120 gb hd maybe that will help, I just wanted to burn these as svcd or vcd's onto dvd's before I wiped everything clean from this computer...if I can't get this to work I might just have to burn them as they are, as data files, onto a dvd-r. thanks.
tmpgenc has the option of batch encoding and 'program' is the type of encoding used as standard, the option is elementry or program, these offer encoding with audio and video or video and audio seperate, they are explained more clearly in the help directory in the software package
check your avi with 'VirtualDubMod' this is free software available from most av sites ie doom9 etc there are guides available for this software banger54
