Just installed a trial of Nero Ultra 8.3.2.1. The first thing I did was open Vision, where I was immediately prompted with the pop-up for the DVD-Video Multichannel Plug-in thing (but which said I had full functionality for 30 days). Anyway, I created a dvd-video slideshow with about 80 photos and an mp3 as background music. Everything previewed and sounded fine, so I burned the project. No audio. Audio is set to Automatic and supposedly it spit out AC3 2-channel but I get nothing whether I watch the dvd from the VIDEO_TS folder using Showtime or Windows Media Player, or when burned to a disc and in my Sony set-top player. According to VobBlanker and DVD Shrink supposedly there is a 108MB AC3 audio track present, but as I said there's no sound at all. When I go back and change the audio to LPCM everything works, but I don't want LPCM in the final product. Anyone know what's causing this or have any tips for me? Thanks.
lpcm on pc and standalone dvd player is ok? could be codecs for pc? got any installed? or more to the piont ac3 filter needed.
i just install k-lite mega codec pack it has all i need including that one. on its own = http://www.free-codecs.com/download/AC3_Filter.htm
I keep seeing people instructing others to install the K-Lite codec pack. I've installed the K-Lite and the K-Lite Mega pack and neither has solved my problems. I could transcode ANY video file to a DVD with Nero 7 and Vision 4, but Nero 8 and Vision 5 is extremely picky about which video files it can work with. The video is usually OK, but there is no audio in preview or in the finished DVD. WTF? AVI and MPG files I ran through Vision 4 in the past, without a problem, will not work with Vision 5. What kind of improvement was this upgrade? I've also purchased the "DVD-Video Multi-channel plugin", "DVD-Video plugin", and the "DTS plugin" to no avail. If I hadn't spent so much money on Nero 8 Ultra, I'd quickly go back to Nero 7 so I could do everything I used to do. In fact, I've already uninstalled Nero 8 once and re-installed Nero 7 and everything was fine. I'm not a codec expert by any means. Are there tweeks I need to make? Anyone have any ideas? Nero is of no help what so ever...
your not the only one here with nero v8 slide show problems it has to be a bug... i tested this theory on another thread myself first try i had no audio in preview window but next day i tried again and as the files i was useing were in the MEDIA FOLDER (nero window you see to drag from) already, this time it worked! but others trying this it didnt? ;-| now a couple things to note here: i have an older v8 nero not latest v8.3.2.1 i dragged over files, not inserted them are your options set as 2ch or 5ch or AUTO?
I recently updated to the most recent version of Nero Ultra 8, hoping the problems I had with the first version were fixed. It was a big let-down. I've tried all the audio options in Nero Vision 5 and nothing seems to work. In Nero Vision 4 I always left the settings at AUTO and rarely had any problems. If I must create my videos with specific codecs and compression settings, it would be nice if Nero would specify those preferred settings so I could have success. Does anyone know what those specifications might be? This is BS.
Just an FYI... Nero came out with a new update for Nero 8 that resolved the same issue for me. Version 8.3.6.0 and is 188 MB download: http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-nero8-update.php
I downloaded the latest version 8.3.6.0 and it would appear they've finally fixed my problems. Every video I've created over the past years, that worked fine with Vision 4, now works fine with Vision 5. Perhaps they received so many complaints that they finally looked into it. The sad thing is all I ever received from them was a form letter. I'm happy now, but it shouldn't have taken this long. Thanks for the heads-up on the download. I also received a newsletter from Nero a couple days after your above message announcing the update.
