Im not a newbie to ripping vcd's, I use the following method:smartripper/dvd2avi/TMPGEnc/nero.
When I try to rip lion king 1 1/2,everything goes smoothly until I try to load up the audio track in TMPGEnc mpeg encoder,I load up the video file, no problem, but when I choose the audio, theres no file that will load.Ive had only a few that have done this, and im clueless,as to whats wrong.Any help would be greatly apreciated.
    thanks in advance

it seems in your dvd2avi process you chose demux into ac3 or DTS, which is the best but not supported by tmpgenc. you could decode to wav, but i use headac3he to convert it to mp2, fast and good quality.

    hi shiroh
    Thanks
On dvd2avi, my audio output is on,decode to wav. This method has worked for more than a hundred of my backups, with TMPGEnc encoder.
So when do I use the headac3he?Do I use that instead of dvd2avi,and more importantly(is it free)also, will there be audio synching problems with headac3he?
    CHEAPSKATE here
    thanks again shiroh

    Hi heres an update.
I downloaded headac3he,and tried the dvd2avi with the settings I would normally use. When I opened headac3he there wasnt a file to choose from.So I redid the dvd2avi but chose demux all tracks.I think it worked, as now I have a audio stream that loads up in TMPGEnc(hope its in synch when done)
There was three different audio streams, so I chose the one thats 448kbs(the biggest of the two ac3 files),I dont recall changing any of the default settings in headac3he(i hope that was the right thing to do)
anyways thanks shiroh your a sweetie (((((hugs))))))
    Ill keep ya posted

taht one line you posted reminds me of another buddy from another forum....heh.

the default settings is good, if you're converting into mp2 it doesn't hurt to go to a lower bitrate, i suggest not lower than 224kbps.
ah, headac3he needs plugins to convert to other format, mp3 and wav is out of the box, one of the plugins need to be put in system32 or is it system, put both, the libmmd.dll. others just need to be in the same folder.

experimentation is the way to go.

I am having the same problem but I use DVD decrypter or DVD Shrink. Nero6 to burn. When I used Shrink to re-author, no sound. If I clicked on anything else except the main movie I did get sound.

    Any ideas?
