strangely, both of my cousin's xbox, version 1.0, have their LPC holes filled with solder.... how did you guys get around it? thanks
All v1 Xbox's have the LPC holes filled. To remove the solder it's best to use a desoldering braid. RustyDog
Got it, I just desoldered it with a desoldering braid, and I tried to install the chameleon with solderless adaptor... nothing... the xbox still works, the chip works, just wont boot up the mod chip.. could it be the adaptor? or did I ruin the connection on the LPC? one more noob question.. when you desolder.. how long do you leave the soldering gun on the LPC points for? thanks!!
my chameleon flashes blue and i don't see xbox boot up on the tv screen. i take the chip out and my xbox works great.
Could be the adapter, also make sure you are using the correct hole for the D0 wire. What happens when the Xbox boots with the chip On? RustyDog
The LPC holes were supossed to be filled with solder. Why would you take the solder out? It is hard to make good contact with no solder in the holes. Every guide i have ever read has said to fill the holes with solder and to use a pen for removing laquer off the spot where the DO makes contact because the laquer will not allow good contact. I have modded many xboxes and have NEVER took the solder out. I have had to fill lpc holes with solder but not take it out!! If you were gonna solder in a pin header for your chip i could see wanting to take the solder out but for the solderless chip there is no need to remove the solder. I think you have been misinformed!!
RustyDog stated in another forum that i need to try my origanl cables. I will do that tonite. I'll let everyone know if it was succesful. Thanks again....
The Chameleon adapter also comes with small rivets to place in the LPC holes if they are empty. Seeing how the LPC holes are never filled evenly with solder there are sometimes you don't get a good connection. RustyDog
Ah, thanks for the clarification, i thought they were like the matrix chip, i didnt no that there were rivets that go in there too.
So is it better to desolder the lpc points if i have a v1.0 xbox or do i need to leave the solder on the board?
I double checked, yes, got the correct D0 position. when I boot it up, it's the normal xbox dash, not the cromwell linux screen. I'm very frustrated.. lol...
There's no need to desolder the LPC holes. Not a big deal if you do or don't. The only hole you do want to double check is the bottom left to make sure this is evenly filled with solder like the rest. RustyDog
ok i changed to the original cables and i see the screen. i made a cd but when i power up my xbox it spits out the cd automatic. i push it back end and the screen says now loading from cd but it never founds the cd and the boot up fails. i have a philips dvd in my xbox. now what do i do? what evo file should i use? i have a 1.0v xbox
ok, so I don't have to desolder...that means there's no need to use the rivets, so I can just plug the solderless adaptor right on the soldered points... i'll give it a try, thanks!
I got mine to work. Thanks to all that helped me out. I give a special thanks to RustyDog....Thanks Man
