Moving to an area with no cable. Can Eurovox Max or Kryptview 780 be modified to work with sly or is it a case of buy something else?

No they wont work with sly, you now need to take a look at a Dreambox or similar.

Now starting to research this, but the cccam and cline stuff is alien to me and I dont fully understand the couple of stickied threads. Also, from what I've read it sounds dodgier than the A780! You have to pay someone a subscription don't you?

So am thinking of turning chicken and getting a sly sub. If I want to replicate my subscription in a couple of different rooms would the DM500S be the right thing to get or is that outdated now?

Dont let CCcam's and clines put you off they are only names, from my experience (which is limited) if you can set up a Kryptview or similar you WILL be able to set one up and you can always get help here if you need it. If you do get a Sly sub you can use the DM500s for viewing all the free channels only, or you can set up your own c/s within your own house if you want Sly Sports/Movies etc in other rooms. Piopat has an excellent guide to help you do both.

Have just read 3 threads of 16, 20 and 43 pages! The things I think I have learned are:
    - You cant mix sly box with dm500s
    - To have sly in two rooms with 1 card you need two dm500s; one server and one client
    - The process to set up seems quite straight forward as long as you follow the guide
    - You need a feed from the lnb to go into each box
    - Each DM500S needs to be linked to your router
    - The DM500s doesn't have the same capabilities as the sly box
    - DM500s are all clones and cheap. You get what you pay for.

All your observations are good except your last one. DM500s are cheap but they work fine
you could always buy a genuine dreambox if you are willing to pay the money. Also note the
sly box does not have many capabilities of DM500s

Does it matter if you buy a clone? I've seen a 'black box' dm500s too. What are the pros and cons and where is the best place to buy?

Clone boxes are working fine, just make sure any image you use is clone-safe

DO NOT pay for a server using CS sites. It's simply asking to be nicked. You're better off finding a few trustworthy family members or friends and doing it privately. Yes, the initial setup is a bit pricey but, once you're there, you'll all have undetectable Sly for peanuts.

Nights your talking rubbish card share has been around for years and will be for many more to come have not seen any person that has subbed to a card share system been arrested or anything else to date the only people that they are after is the person hosting the server the only reason a server gets detected is the silly people that dont know what they are doing

Actually, there was a raid on a "premium" server in Manchester (or Lancaster) earlier this year (a link escapes me for now) due to the server advertising his "service" at some market. All i'm saying is, if a card sharer on forums (or at a market) happens to invite an undercover Sly agent, there's a strong chance he can be traced. Then, when there's a raid, there's every chance the IPs of all "subscribers" would be known and traceable. I'm not saying cops would hunt them all down or anything but, if you keep it private between trusted friends/family, this is not a risk. Agreed though that some people might get detected by not knowing what they're doing.
