    Hi fellows

Any owner of a Bravia KDL-40V5800 with satellite channels up and running?

My problem is that I cannot get any channels (not even signal) in the "Satellite auto tuning" setup.

What is the right procedure for this? when should I expect the signal bars to start moving?

I've been basically trying to get signal from any satellite (mainly astra 19.2E) , i dont care what it is as long as i get something on the TV that tells me "right!, there is a satellite up there".. so far i just get failed full scans with no services found...

I tried to contact sony's (lousy) support but those guys doesnt know anything about their products (sadly)...

    Setup details
    -Antenna oval 80x75cm
    - Single LNB universal
    - Satellite finder (needle shows change in signals and make noise, so something its been found)
    -Bravia KDL-40V5800 with built-in DVB-S/S2 receiver

    Any ideas, comments, suggestions?

I have posted this question on the Finnish side, so admins punish me if double post on different language is not allowed.

for all you know you could be pointing an an american spy satellite. the issue is you are not pointing at the correct satellite. i'm not paranoid.

Ok, lets say i am pointing at a CIA Satellite that it is not broadcasting any TV signal, in that case you could be right, because they will probably be sending signals in frequency not intended for tv broadcast and the TV(receiver) would not notice these signals at all...

I have moved the antenna to different locations, I have read that tv broadcast satellites are relatively close to each other.. if im pointing at an american spy satellite (by coincidence), I would for sure try the lotto this saturday, i could have very good chances :)

ajra, do you not have a neighbour in close proximity that you could get a vague idea of where to point the dish. if you don't i think you will need to invest in a good satfinder solution to help you position the dish

    Thanks for the answer fintannl.

I have a neighbour with an antenna poiting at Thor (he uses Canal Digital), but as far as I know all channels in Thor are encrypted.

What could be a good satfinder? are we talking about hundreds of Euros?

i would suggest that you point at astra 28.2E. Thor is in a very different direction. A satfinder you can buy on ebay for not so much. Personally I would just get a vague idea off other neighbours using sky and muck about for a bit with the dish. Takes a bit of patience

Whats the problem with Astra 19.2E? As far a I know this is a set of few satellites seen as one.. one of the most common and "easiest" to catch even with a 50cm dish (i am in southern Finland)...

    Hello after a long while

I managed to solve the problem. I simply bought a new dish.

The root of the problem was the dish's mast bracket, which was extremely bad designed and they never mentioned that this dish is for Mr miyagi patience levels . The new dish was a pleasure to install and set. After playing around with the sat finder, I managed to Lock Astra 19.2 signal and it found over 1000 services. Hispasat you are next hehehe

    Im happy :)
