ok guys i have a problem here and would really appreciate some help! i built a pc and after about 6 months of using it i received an error message - "no signal input", on the monitor when i attempted to boot the system up. when i turned the power on, the monitor would turn on and the initial start up screen would appear on the monitor - running through checking drives etc... then when it reached the "starting windows" part I would loose the signal and the monitor would switch off. i put this down to the onboard graphics on the motherboard so bought a standalone graphics card and then formatted the hard disk at the same time. the computer then worked fine for about 5-6months, and now the exact same thing is happening again - computer starts to boot up and then the monitor dies when it reaches the windows starting part. has anyone got any idea how i can fix this? memory maybe? psu? i'm at a loss
Ok so what kind of vid card do you have ..?...and is it SLI or do you have dual cards and is it PCI-express or anyother kind ?.........ahy who ....i had the same problem mine never had a time limit (like 6 months) but off and on it would do the same thing so i found out that even on my single vid card i have 2 DVI outputs and i had my monitor in the 2nd one not the 1st (defult) one and i changed that and never had the prob since......but get back to us here and we might be able to help
it is a nvidia vid card - it has 2 vid inputs- one dvi, one vga, its plugged into the vga socket.its 1 pci-e card, no SLI for me
are you able to see if the monitor will work on another computer ?...or see if another monitor will work on your computer.....even if you can take the vid card out and put it in another computer.......if you already did all that then is there any beeping when you start it up ?
the monitor definitely works - the bios post appears and it runs through until the "starting windows" bar appears, then the monitor loses signal
wow man......, try setting you bios setting to fail safe or to manufacture's defult see what happens there a friend also told me that he had this problem too but his just some how came out of it......this baffels me too now so ill keep my ears open and if i come up with anything then ill post it for ya !
