No sound on laptop

    I have no clue what to do. I went in to the control panel and tried every audio combination and the sound just doesn't work. Nothing, nada, zip! I give up. HELP!

    Ok i had this problem about a year ago and it was the most stupid thing i think ive ever done. On the side of the laptop is there a volume wheel try turning it!!!
    It might have slipped just an idea!

    There was sound when I first got it in July and then about December the sound just doesn't work anymore. I have no idea why. Yes, it has built in speakers. No, there is no "slide wheel" or anything to turn it up.
    It is a Dell Inspiron 1200. If I put in a cd it plays just no sound. I have adjusted the volume control etc. and nothing.

    Have you tried to see if one of the sound cables have cut on you or burned out.

    No, if it is an internal thing then I wouldn't know what to look for. I didn't open it.

    Double click on the volume on ye task bar go to options and see if any of the controls are muted.

    can you hook some external speakers to the laptop. see if its just your laptop speakers that is the problem.

    External speakers didn't work.

    Maybe theres an internal hardware problem then??
    If you can open it up and see if theres any loose wires if not get a tech to do it!
