no sound on my computer

    help.all of a sudden there is no sound on my computer.neither system sounds or from my media players.i have reinstalled my audio drivers and troubleshooting says my hardware is working.i have a realtek AC 97 audio card and windows xp.any ideas greatly appreciated.

    check and make sure your mute button isn't on?
