I have downloaded several .avi files. At first many did not play sound or did not have video until I downloaded a few codecs. I still have two files with no sound, but I have found a common variable between them. In the 'properties' section there is no listed audio format. Does this mean there is no sound attached or do i still not have the needed codecs? I currently have; DIVX 5.0.2 Bundle, 3vix D4 PR2, DIVX MPEG-4 Video codec,XVID. Can someone please help. thanks alot.

those are the video codecs, what audio codecs do you have? I'm just beginning myself but I have the mp3 codec and ac3 codec, I'm not sure how many others are out there or how many of the main/importants there are that you need to cover your bases.

if you listen to mp3 then you already have it, however if you are going to encode/compress to mp3 there are those who says that lame mp3 is better, if not best, for encoding to mp3. if you want it you can probably find it here or just do a google search for "lame mp3"
