When i try to play sounds on a HP w1907 monitor, no sound plays. Its as if its always on mute. There seems to be something missing from the sounds tab in control panel. Any ideas how to get sound working? please
did you connect the audio cable from back of monitor to green spaker jack at back of computer? Setting Up Your Monitor link. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&lang=en&product=3351967#N606
Test the audio jack with a pair of headphones or another pair of speakers to see if it's the PC or the monitor.
Is this a new monitor? If it works with your headphones it should work with your monitor. Your PC can't tell the difference when it's setting audio out of that jack. Either the monitor speakers aren't working, or the cable you are using has a short in it. As a last resort you could check to see if there is a more up to date version of the driver for the monitor, but I imagine the speakers on the monitor simply pass the audio given to them without any extra controller. If the speakers are controlled by the monitor look through the monitors on screen display (OSD button) for any options relating to sound. And also make sure the volume buttons on the monitor aren't turned all the way down
thanks but the earphones and speakers dont work through the monitor only the computer itself. volume is up as high as it goes, mute is off. The monitor is about 8 months old. I think i acidently deleted something that may have been needed. When i go my computer/manage/Device manager/sound, video and game controllers there is a warning sign next to ADS instant HDTV PCI. any ideas for this?
